Product Description

Kyoto Electronics Manufacturing is a renowned specialist for density measurement and the only JCSS (Japan Calibration Service System) accredited supplier of liquid density standards. The DA-800 Density Meter series is the result of 3 decades of experience in manufacturing Digital Density Meters and the market experience gained in close cooperation with our customers. It combines the most recent measuring technology with an intuitive user interface in a robust housing.

DA-800 Density MeterIt is a device that measures the density and specific gravity of a liquid using the natural vibration cycle measurement method. It can also be used as a densitometer. This device has a built-in constant temperature function, and can measure density and specific gravity at any temperature. The amount of sample required for measurement is approximately 1 mL (during manual injection).

The shortest measurement time is about 10 seconds (when the viscosity correction function is not used and the sample temperature is stable). The viscosity correction function is installed in all devices.

Equipped with a data integrity (DI) support function as standard, it supports the maintenance and management of your important data.

The interface has been enhanced to support various usages such as a separate structure for the operation unit (tablet / PC) and measurement unit, wireless LAN connection, and multiple unit connection. It is packed with specifications that are friendly to those who use the device, such as space saving with a semi-automatic clean unit integrated with the main body and a camera for viewing the measurement cell.

A density hydrometer that thoroughly pursues reliability, convenience, and efficiency.

Soft Cap Data Capture Software

SOFT CAP Data Capture Software

The easy way to transfer your results directly to Microsoft EXCEL

The Data Capture Software is an easy to use and flexible solution to collect measurement results from different KEM instruments (Refractometers, Density Meters, Potentiometric or Karl-Fischer Titrators, Thermal Conductivity Meters) on a Windows personal computer.

  • Up to four different instruments can be connected to one single PC and be used simultaneously. Two of these instruments can be of the same model.
  • The results can directly be stored in EXCEL workbooks. The measured results are always available at a glance in a clear and concise manner.
    • As soon as a measurement has finished, the result appears in the corresponding worksheet.
    • The layout, order and the format how the results are stored in EXCEL can freely be adapted to specific needs.
    • Results can be automatically be processed by EXCEL macros as they are transmitted to the PC. Additional data (comments, sample data, etc.) can be entered at any time by means of the PC keyboard or a barcode reader.
  • All results can at the same time be stored in as CSV files.

KEM does not only have several decades of experience in producing digital density meter it also has a JCSS (Japan Calibration Service System) Accredited Calibration Laboratory (assessed on JIS Q 17025:2000 (ISO/IEC 17025:1999) where a wide range of certified liquid density standard reference material is produced. KEM has the JCSS accreditation number 0115.

The density of these standards is determined with by hydrostatic weighing using a mono-cristal silicon body (see picture) and is thus directly traceable to recognized national standards. All standards come with a certificate bearing the JCSS symbol which assures their traceability to National Measurement Standards of Japan which are recognized worldwide through the ILAC and APLAC MRA.

Although calibration with air and water is common practice, regular system performance checks using reference standards has benefits with regard to GLP compliance and traceability of the results to recognized national standards.

Density standard reference material

Density meters are often used to determine the ethanol content. For this reason, KEM offers a range of certified ethanol / water density standards. The ethanol standards come in three vials of 20 mL each.

Due to their measuring principle, the reading of digital density meters based on an oscillating U-tube is influenced by the viscosity of the measured sample because the oscillation of the U-tube is dampened due to the shear forces that occur in viscous samples. Modern digital density meter can automatically correct for this so called viscosity error. If frequently samples are measured having a viscosity which necessitate a correction of the viscosity error, regular system performance checks using certified density reference material having approximately the same viscosity as the samples should be performed. This is the only way to ensure the viscosity correction of the density meter is working correctly. For this reason KEM is offering certified density standard reference material having different viscosities.
